COURSE OVERALL LEARNING GOAL:

This course teaches officers proven skills for overcoming size and/or strength differences through the use of simple, easy to learn techniques. Our training methodology is time tested and specifically tailored for female or smaller statured officers. Officers of all sizes, regardless of their existing skill-set, will learn how to use fundamental elements such as leverage, body position, and timing to gain control of resistant and assaultive suspects.

Course objectives include but are not limited to:

  • Enhance subject compliance with the use of verbal de-escalation and soft-empty hand techniques
  • Appropriately react to an assaultive subject at close quarters
  • Develop skills in handcuffing and controlling resistant subjects
  • Perform multiple-officer and single-officer takedowns on resistant subjects

The foundation of this course is built on empty-hand control techniques while integrating a holistic approach to the use of all force options. The principles taught in this course are not only easy to learn and effective, but also compliment tactics officers may already be using.

An attack cannot always be avoided, so don’t rely solely on situational awareness or unrealistic technique to stay safe on the streets.

TESTIMONIALS

“One of the best trainings I have been to.  Everything was taught at a level that could be understood.  What I liked most was how it applies to real life, knowing as a smaller female that these tactics work.”

-Haley Larson, Blaine Police Department

“The instructors for this course were very dynamic, adaptive, and open to learning as much as they were to teaching.  Made class a collaborative effort.  Really felt like we were all on the same team.”

-Stephanie Wallace, Minnetonka Police Department

“The instructors were very knowledgeable and knew how to explain things clearly.  It was less intimidating with all females.  Also learned things I can use as a smaller female.”

“This was my first training outside of my PD and my standards are now pretty high!  What I liked most was learning the different techniques and building off of them.  I will be attending more!”

-Lauren Roll, Crystal Police Department

“This is hands down the best DT/empty hand/close-quarters training I have ever been to.  Techniques were simple to learn and are real-life applicable both on and off duty.  What I liked most was the rear sitting takedown!”

“They slowed things down and went step by step which was very helpful in remembering how to do it correctly.  They were respectful and supportive.  What I liked most was the amount of different moves that were shown and how they played into and rolled right into another move.”

-Sarah Hubacher, Dundas Police Department

“Best instructors ever.  I liked that all the moves didn’t require you to be bigger and strong than your suspect.”

-Sydney Dison, Mounds View Police Department

The foundation of an effective defensive tactics program is solid curriculum and competent instructors. Our comprehensive system utilizes modern training methodologies and fundamental, easy to learn techniques. Officers attending this course will learn the most proven, essential, and innovative procedures for arrest and control.

Regardless of existing skill level, officers will become proficient in the application of effective force and enhance their abilities to react to all levels of subject resistance. This training will provide considerations for all typical force option tools to include Taser, ASP baton, and less lethal force platforms. The core elements taught in this course such as leverage, body position, and timing are compatible with all other defensive tactics and use of force related systems. But, learning to efficiently gain control of resistant and assaultive subjects is only part of the process.

This course will also focus on building effective communicators, trainers and mentors of law enforcement professionals. Conventional methods of instruction have been shown to produce a 20% rate of retention. Our innovative, student focused training methods, result in a retention rate of up to 80%. This program maximizes information transfer from the classroom to real world application for trainers and the professionals they teach. Finally, this course will provide a robust curriculum that can be tailored to individual and organizational needs and fielded in virtually any law enforcement, security, or similar organization.

COURSE OVERALL LEARNING GOAL:

As law enforcement officers we rarely respond to a dangerous incident without the aid of backup. So why do we so frequently operate as individuals when controlling an aggressive suspect? This course will teach specific, easy to learn methods for two or more officers to safely control fully assaultive suspects. These are time tested and proven techniques for keeping officers safe. This system is also effective at mitigating the use of higher levels of force which can lead to unnecessary injury, emotional stress and civil liability.

This course can easily be integrated with other tactics or systems. These physical skills are grounded in basic human kinetics with a focus on effective subject control. The secret of the success of our methods come through universal application. This allows officers to learn a minimal number of techniques, but have an ability to apply them under a wide array of circumstances. Officers attending this course can expect to develop improved ability to control dangerous suspects regardless of their existing skill set.

Course objectives include but are not limited to:

· Enhance subject compliance with the use of verbal de-escalation and soft-empty hand techniques

· Appropriately react to an assaultive subject at close quarters

· Develop skills in handcuffing and controlling resistant subjects

· Perform multiple-officer and single-officer takedowns on resistant subjects

The foundation of this course is built on empty-hand control techniques while integrating a holistic approach to the use of all force options. The principles taught in this course are not only easy to learn and effective, but also compliment tactics officers may already be using.
