The use of 40mm launchers by law enforcement has significantly increased
across the country as departments realize the safe and effective less lethal
benefits they offer. This course will ensure the student is able to perform
up to Level Three maintenance on the LMT 37mm and 40mm 14XX series
Single launchers.

COURSE OVERVIEW
This course uses PowerPoint, video and hands-on instruction to guide
the students through the process of working on three different classes
of launchers. Normally held to a 15 to 1 student/teacher ratio, each class
ensures every student receives the personal attention required to master
these skills.
As there are four different levels of maintenance on LMT launchers,
students can expect to be able to do the following:
• Break the launcher down into three main groups
• Disassemble each group into the functional subgroups
• Inspect the parts and components for wear, damage or breakage
• Replace parts as needed, reassemble and test fire
• Identify repair work that requires a Level Four service and
understand how to arrange that

The Defense Technology Training Academy will provide the tools necessary
to accomplish the course work. Students will also be given a list of tools
they will need to buy to accomplish this work once they return to their work
location.

COURSE BENEFITS
This course is designed to prepare all students to manage the LMT 14XX
series Single launchers.
Students that successfully complete this course will:
• Receive a list of needed tools for their work site
• Be able to inspect the launchers for wear, damage and poor function
• Be able to disassemble, inspect, repair and reassemble the launcher
• Be able to identify repairs requiring factory support

Additional Details: 

There are no prerequisites for this class. It entails following group presentation and directed
instruction addressing the disassembly and reassembly of firearms. Students will have an
easier time understanding the mechanical aspects of this work if they have prior experience
of working on firearms. The Defense Technology Training Academy trains only sworn law
enforcement officers, correctional personnel, state-licensed security personnel (OC only),
or active military personnel.

REQUIRED EQUIPMENT
Bring at least one of these launchers:
• LMT 37mm / 40mm 14XX series single
launcher
• Cleaning gear for the launcher
