COURSE SUMMARY:

This course provides 6 hours of combined classroom and reality based training exercises. The students will be operating within extremely high stress levels in real life scenarios. The course will utilize marking cartridge technology which will closely resemble firing a lethal weapon. The student will gain proficiency in operating in and with replicated stress levels, which will include deadly force decision making. (shoot or no shoot)

STUDENT OBJECTIVE:

· Will completely understand the legal requirements for a civilian in making critical life and death decisions while possessing a firearm.
· Will demonstrate what to do and what not to do in the event that deadly force is utilized.
· Will function more efficiently by inoculating the effects of stress.
· Will be both a student and role player in the class exercises.
· Will be forming clear criteria of student capabilities, responsibilities, and duties of carrying a firearm in public or in a residential setting. The ultimate goal is to have key decisions pre-programmed in one’s subconscious for better results in real events.

STUDENTS UNDERSTANDING:

· Student must be healthy enough to operate with accelerated heart rates.
· Student may be impacted by non-lethal training projectiles, that may lead to slight bruising.
· Students will NOT bring any lethal or personal protective equipment to the classroom settings. (firearms, knifes, mace, etc.)
· Student will bring a heavy sweatshirt to the class.

INSTRUCTOR WILL PROVIDE THE FOLLOWING:

· Training Firearms
· Non-lethal marking rounds
· Protective Equipment

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:

· 25 years of experience in scenario/reality based training. Special Agent / Tactical Instructor at the FBI Academy (Quantico, VA), Conducting Scenario Based Training at Hogan’s Alley.
· 7 years as head trainer for SIMUNITION. (General Dynamics)
· 10 years of Director of Training, Marketing & Sales for Force on Force. (Vista Outdoors formerly ATK)

COURSE SUMMARY:

This course provides four hours of combined classroom and firearms simulator-based training exercises. Students build on their marksmanship fundamentals, developing simple defensive tactical skills and situational awareness needed to safely operate a pistol for self- and home defense.

STUDENT OBJECTIVE:

  • Will understand firearm storage & transport
  • Will be introduced to situational awareness concepts and mindset
  • Will develop students’ ability to move, shoot, and take cover/concealment
  • Will learn strategies for skills development such as how to safely draw from the holster, move and     shoot, use cover and concealment, and respond to common self-defense situations.

STUDENT UNDERSTANDING:

Students will understand essential ethical, technical and legal responsibilities associated with carrying a firearm

Students will use an advanced indoor, video-simulation system usually available only to law enforcement.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:
Jennifer McDowell is a life-long member of the Air Force Association, volunteered with the AFROTC program at St. Thomas University, and was volunteer instructor with Junior Achievement. She holds NRA certifications as Pistol Instructor and Range Safety Officer, and has completed various defensive and tactical shooting courses.

COURSE SUMMARY

This is a classroom based combat-confrontation avoidance course based upon the L.O.C.K.U.P. ® System. It teaches within a classroom setting how to recognize aggression and to not stimulate aggression. Students will learn communications skills and evidence based Active Diffusion Strategies that can avoid or resolve interactions by employing tactical de-escalation the techniques, conflict resolution methods and distraction techniques that promote successful tactical applications. The course also discusses tactical responses when diffusion tactics are inappropriate or ineffective. This program teaches officers how professional communication can protect officers in the field, reduce civilian complaints as well as civil litigation. Instruction uses lectures and demonstrations to facilitate learning and retention.

COURSE SUMMARY:

Objectives for the basic course are 1) to provide the fundamentals necessary to conduct a proper interview and interrogation, 2) to provide a structured frame of reference for those interviewers who have some experience but also may not have had any formal training in the area and 3) to improve the efficiency of all participants in obtraining the truth from suspects, witnesses and victims in a legally acceptable manner.

Objectives for the advanced course are 1) to provide additional tactics and techniques designed to obtain confessions from the deceptive suspect in more expedient manner, 2) to provide finesse tactics dealing with the psychology of interrogation to enhance the investigators ability to acquire confessions that might not have otherwise been obtained and 3) to provide a logical guideline that may be used to profile out any type of suspect for interrogation.
