COURSE SUMMARY:

Who should attend: This course is a designed for all government professionals who strive to be an
effective leader. Without understanding leadership and developing strong leadership skills, organizational
success can suffer. Effective leaders get employees to want to provide quality service.
Why another program on leadership? Leadership has been a recognized discipline for thousands of
years in the military, business, politics and government. Understanding leadership differences along with
similar approaches across disciplines can be of great value to government executives. Advances in the
understanding of leadership as it pertains to government service have found that the best leaders must
have an overlapping skill set.
This compelling and powerful program provides real world, successful examples on how leadership in

Introduction To Handguns: November 19 & 21, 2019

COURSE SUMMARY:

This program is designed to provide a hands-on experience in firearms safety for people who are new gun owners or are thinking of purchasing a firearm for personal safety and/or recreational shooting.

Classes will take place over two evenings. On the first night, participants will:
• Learn important safety procedures for handling of pistols and for use of firearms range;
• Familiarize with the different types of pistols, their parts and operation;
• Learn about ammunition and its proper use;
• Be able to load and unload a firearm using “dummy” ammunition;
• Practice firing stance, grip and use of pistol sights;
On the second night, participants will:
• Shoot live ammunition on a twelve lane indoor firing range with the assistance of firearms instructors and range safety officers;
• Participate in target shooting and tactical exercises using an inter-active police firearms simulator with laser gun technology.
• Be informed of state laws and procedures regarding the purchase and carrying of a hand gun.

Students must attend the first night’s instruction in order to participate in the live ammunition and simulator training on the second night. This course is open to people over the age of 18. Because of some adult content, teens, ages 13 – 17 years, may attend with a parent or guardian who is also a participant. Under 13 years, please contact Debra Fields (info below). Pistols are provided. If you already own a handgun, you are welcome to bring it with you.

COURSE SUMMARY:

The L.O.C.K.U.P.® Police Ground Control Edged Weapon Instructor Course is an in-depth presentation of police ground control tactics integrated with edged weapon defense. The course will provide a solid foundation of law enforcement and corrections ground engagements. This is not sport orientated grappling, these are tactics and techniques designed for law enforcement / correctional engagements. L.O.C.K.U.P. ® orientation provides the base of the system with the course specifically focusing on grounded and edged weapon engagements.

• The L.O.C.K.U.P. ® Police Combat System
• Environmental and Situational Awareness
• Understand the limitations of grounded combat
• Mount, Guard and Side Control Platforms
• Defensive strategy/technique against five most likely attacks.
• Counter Offense from the Guard Position

• Maintaining and Escaping the Side Control
• Submission Holds to Handcuffing positions
• Learning to keep tactical distance from assailant (s)
